Heather, this post just made my day! Great connection between nature and design to make a valid point.

I just finished reading a book called “Room” by Emma Donoghue, a story of a boy who was raised in a single room (with only his mother) for the first five years of his life. The boy was completely content with his surroundings, turning old eggshells into toy snakes, and using the room to sleep, play, relax, eat, and imagine.

Excellent point. On the flip side, I once worked at a company in which the entire company got a design overhaul, except for the design department. The design department consisted of all the furniture that wasn’t fit for the rest of the office to begin with. I can tell you the entire department felt undervalued and unimportant.

That’s such a great point. Laws vary geographical location, and if you are planning to use the home office as a tax deduction, it’s a good idea to check in with your accountant and local laws.

I also love how in Germany and other ares of Europe, that people move their kitchens with them, and was surprised when a friend in London was buying a flat an had to go buy flooring as well! Much different than what I’m used to in Chicago!
